Memorial Day of Donetsk Airport Defenders “CYBORGS”
Eight years have passed since the ferocious warfare for the Donetsk airport ended. Ukraine’s defenders held the airport for 244 days. Despite persistent artillery and tank fire from the enemy, Ukrainian fighters fought even until the concrete gave way.
On Jan. 20, 2015, Russian terrorists detonated explosives at the new terminal, causing the concrete floors to collapse on Donetsk airport defenders and killing dozens of our soldiers. During the whole defense of the airport, more than 100 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, and approximately 440 were injured.
