Mosaic replicas of Maria Prymachenko’s works are on display in Latvia

On August 27, 2022, an exhibition of a mosaics collection representing fragments of paintings by famous Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko, created by participants of the “Open Workshop” charitable project, was opened in Riga.
The project was initiated by the Latvian mosaic artist, head of “Mosaic Art Studio in Riga,” Vadym Vernyk. The “Open Workshop” initiative invited all those willing to collectively or individually create a fragment of Maria Prymachenko’s paintings from Murano smalt using the mosaic technique. The created works will be donated to the destroyed museum of Maria Prymachenko in the town of Ivankiv in Kyiv region.
From June 18 to August 18, 2022, the participants, under the guidance of experienced artists, created a unique collection of 63 mosaics consisting of 43,000 elements.
The exhibition will last until September 17, 2022. Later, the collection of created mosaics will be exhibited at the largest Latvian exhibition-fair of contemporary art, Art Riga Fair 2022 (August 21-25). Further, according to Vernyk, there are plans to go with a charity exhibition to Canada and the USA to help raise funds for the reconstruction of the Ivankiv Historical and Local History Museum.
