NATO aims to boost Ukraine’s air defense after the Russian massive attack on civilian infrastructure

Speaking ahead of a two-day meeting of the alliance’s defense ministers, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg pledged to boost the protection of the critical infrastructure of Ukraine.
“Attacks on civilians in Ukraine demonstrate the urgent need for more air defense for Ukraine. Allies have provided air defense, and we need even more. We need different types of air defense: short-range, long-range air defense systems to take the ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, drones, different systems for different tasks,” said Stoltenberg.
Earlier, he also said that the Western defense alliance would stand with Kyiv as long as it takes.
“President Putin is failing in Ukraine. His attempted annexations, partial mobilization, and reckless nuclear rhetoric represent the most significant escalation since the start of the war. And they show that this war is not going as planned. NATO is not a party to the conflict. But our support is playing a key role,” Stoltenberg added.
