Norway provides Ukraine with almost $200 million to purchase natural gas during the winter

Norway will provide funding of NOK 2 billion (almost $200 million) to enable Ukraine to purchase natural gas during the coming winter. Norwegian Minister of Finance Trygve Slagsvold Vedum has signed the relevant agreement.

“As winter approaches in earnest in Ukraine, Russia has been using energy as a weapon and targeting critical infrastructure in an attempt to crush Ukraine’s resistance. Russia’s actions are serious violations of international law and are causing severe hardship for the people of Ukraine. Norwegian support to secure energy supplies is therefore vitally important for Ukraine,’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Anniken Huitfeldt.
