Number of female soldiers in the Ukrainian army now three times the amount of 2014
There is a steady trend towards an increase in the number of women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s representative for gender issues Liubov Humeniuk, since 2014, the number of women in the army increased by nearly 3 times, while the number of female officers has become 7 times what it used to be.
“The number of women in all categories of personnel of the Armed Forces has begun to increase. Thus, in 2014, the total number of women was 49,926, of which 16,557 were military personnel. And as of March 1, 2023, we already have 60,538 women in the Armed Forces. 42,898 of them are military personnel,” Humeniuk said. The number of female officers has increased to 7,416, which is almost 7 times more than in 2014.
