Oleksandr Shapoval, a ballet soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine, was killed at the frontline, defending the country

The ballet soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine, Oleksandr Shapoval, was killed in combat in Donetsk region on September 12, 2022.

“He was a remarkable artist. Our every performance together was filled with such vitality because he was one of those few people who lived for the stage,” said Kateryna Kukhar, the prima-ballerina of the National Opera.

Oleksandr Shapoval was a ballet soloist at the National Opera of Ukraine from 2013 to 2021. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
