On the opening day of the 2022 World Games, Ukrainians won two gold and two bronze medals

Ukrainian athletes took home two “gold” medals and two “bronze” medals on the opening day of the 2022 World Games. Athletes from Ukraine took home the top prizes in the 11th World Games in Birmingham (USA).

Sofia Grechko from Kyiv, who triumphed in finswimming (underwater swimming with flippers), took home the gold medal after covering the 200 meters in 1 minute, 29.57 seconds, according to Ukrinform. The titled karateka from Odesa, Anzhelika Terlyuga is also the World Games champion. The 2022 Olympic Games’ bronze medalists in powerlifting were Larisa Soloviova from Kyiv and Anastasia Derevianko from Donetsk region — they became third in light and middle weight, respectively. The competitions will last till July 17, 2022.
