Ordinary Ukrainians were passing a 5-year-old boy from one to another for two days until he reached the Polish border.
It took two days for the little boy Ivan to go across the country, from Kyiv to the Polish border. After he lost connection with his father in Kyiv during the war, he had started his long journey. Volunteer Iryna was accompanying him from Poland, being in contact with those people he came across and who assisted him in moving further and further to the West of Ukraine. She met him at the border, and now Ivan stays in the Polish city Chełm.
The connection with Ivan’s mother was restored when he was on his way to Poland. The next day after the boy arrived in Poland, his mother had managed to leave the country and unite with her son.
