“Russia thought that it could easily conquer Ukraine — but the Ukrainians are defending themselves magnificently,” Lloyd Austin, U.S. Secretary of Defense, stated at the Halifax International Security Forum.

“You know, just days ago, a father in Kyiv waited calmly to fill up a container of water for his wife and their newborn baby. And he said that however bad the winter might be, it was better than giving in to tyranny. Now that’s the spirit of Ukraine. That’s the spirit that won the Battle of Kyiv, that retook Snake Island, and freed Kherson and Kharkiv,” added Lloyd Austin.

United States Secretary of Defense noted it shows the moral power of the Ukrainian people fighting to defend their lives, their country, and their unalienable rights.
