Senior Procurement Specialist at METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine Olha Podorozhna has been working for METRO AG for 7 years. Today she is wearing fatigues and carries a weapon to defend her home and her country as Russian bombs and missiles have started falling at her peaceful city Kyiv on February 24, 2022.

She has made a statement addressed to top-management of METRO AG global office to stop operating a business in Russia.

She stresses that over 100 world-class companies have already left the Russian market, and almost 500 have limited their presence there.

“Putin must be stopped. Otherwise, he will come after you. He will come to your homes, just as he came to ours. Recall Churchill’s words: ‘You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour and you will have war.’ Stop doing business with the occupier. […] I hope you will find strength and courage,” — Olha Podorozhna writes. y Russian bullets purchased for your money? What about buyers and employees in Ukraine who are killed by the bombs purchased from the Russian budget? What about it, you, who fill their budget as one of large taxpayers?” — Olha writes in her statement.
