Pond near Russian embassy in Vilnius dyed blood red in protest against the war in Ukraine

The artistic performance “Swimming Through”, took place near the Russian Embassy in Vilnius, on Ukrainian Heroes street. Lithuania’s Olympic champion Ruta Meilutyte swam through the red-dyed pond. The performance seeks to encourage more active action to save the Ukrainian people from the genocide perpetrated by Russia.
“It is an invitation not to turn away from pain, not to be an indifferent observer. It is an invitation to continue to defend the people currently being tortured, raped, killed, their fundamental democratic values, their right to liberty and their lives. It is now more important than ever not to immerse ourselves in the images of the massacres that reach us,” the creators of the performance said.
Vilnius County Police mentioned that the protest had been coordinated with environmental protection authorities, adding that the dye was harmless.
