Rishi Sunak visits Ukraine for the first time as Prime Minister of the UK

Rishi Sunak meets Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. It’s his first visit to Ukraine as Prime Minister of the UK.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his post on Telegram: “During today’s meeting, we discussed the most important issues both for our countries and for global security. Together we are stronger, and we will achieve the desired results.”

During his first visit to Ukraine, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed the UK would bolster Ukraine’s air defenses.

The major £50 million package of air defense will aim to “protect Ukrainian civilians and critical national infrastructure from an intense barrage of Russian strikes.” It comprises 125 anti-aircraft guns and technology to counter deadly Iranian-supplied drones, including dozens of radars and anti-drone electronic warfare capability.
