Russia illegally detained 180 political prisoners, most of them are Crimean Tatars

The Russian Federation is illegally keeping 180 Ukrainian political prisoners in Crimea — 116 of whom are Crimean Tatars, as reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets on Feb. 26, 2023.

“The recent deaths of two political prisoners, Kostiantyn Shyrinh and Dzhemil Hafarov, in Kremlin prisons was a blatant violation of fundamental human rights and international law. They were not provided with the necessary medical care,” stated the Ukrainian Ombudsman.
