Russia is conducting a 19th-century imperialist war in Ukraine

Russia’s attack against Ukraine is an intellectual imperial war that could have been conceived in the 19th century but has no place in the 21st, President of Latvia Egils Levits remarked on this during a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference, as Ukrinform reports.
“This is an ideological conflict. Putin has recreated the old imperialist, colonialist, and racist mindset of the 19th century when it was permissible to attack and conquer other countries. Nonetheless, it appears weird in the twenty-first century. Around the middle of the last century, European states relinquished it pretty easily. Now we see how tough it is for Russia to forsake such an ideology,” added the Latvian president.
