Russian forces repeatedly shell the Zaporizhzhia NPP

On the night of September 21, 2022, Russians shelled the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, as reported by the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine — Energoatom.

As a result of the attack, the communication equipment of one of the power units was damaged.

Also, the unit transformer and transformers of the power unit’s needs were disconnected. The power cuts caused an emergency start of two diesel generators for the safety systems to ensure the operation of the fuel cooling pumps.
