Russian missile attack destroys residential building and hotel in Kyiv

As of 3 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2022, one person has been confirmed dead in Kyiv after Russia launched a series of missile strikes across Ukraine.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that one person has been killed in Solomianskyi district, at least eight more people were injured. The attack also hit the Pecherskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, in the central and west end of the city. A journalist from Japan was also among the injured in Kyiv.

A hotel and a detached house were hit by missiles, according to Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko. The Ukraina National Palace of Arts, the largest concert and art institution in Kyiv, was also damaged in the attack.
