Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova was expelled from the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI)

According to Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights, Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova was expelled from the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI).

There were 25 votes in favor of Moskalkova’s exclusion, 4 abstentions, and no opposition. As Lubinets explained, the reason for the vote was that the Russian Ombudsman acted “in a manner and contrary to the purpose defined by the ENNHRI Charter.”

“During her speech, the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation announced her withdrawal from the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions, probably anticipating a negative outcome of the vote for their institution. She also used Russian propaganda narratives about US biolabs in Ukraine and mentioned human rights violations in France during the protests, which was very strange to hear from a representative of the aggressor country,” Lubinets wrote.

He noted that Russia does not pay attention to human rights violations on their part: killing, shelling peaceful cities, torturing, destroying homes, abducting Ukrainian children, holding civilians captive, and not complying with the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
