Russian troops fired on a column of volunteer buses near Chernihiv

The Russian military opened fire on a convoy of volunteer buses heading towards Chernihiv for evacuation.

The relevant statement was made by Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova.

“Five buses came under enemy targeted fire when they were attempting to enter the besieged city to evacuate people. There were only civilian volunteers on the buses. As a result, one person was killed, four people were seriously wounded,” Denisova noted.

In her words, one of the buses managed to escape with punctured tires. The driver was wounded and taken to hospital.

According to Denisova, Russian invaders do not give the slightest opportunity to evacuate civilians from the besieged city of Chernihiv. They are holding dozens of thousands of people hostage without food, water, heating, and are shelling residential areas with heavy artillery daily.

“Such actions are another war crime and a crime against humanity, committed by Russian troops, in accordance with Article 7 and Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court,” Denisova stressed.
