Russia’s war against Ukraine has caused the largest wave of refugees since World War II

The war in Ukraine which was started by Russia caused the largest wave of refugeers for the last years. As the Representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Germany, Katarina Lump, stated in the interview for Deutsche Welle, more than 7.9 million people have left Ukraine, and another 5.9 million are internally displaced.
She noted that the USA and Germany are the largest humanitarian donors who responded to the refugee crisis. In particular, Germany provided over €1 billion in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
