Russia’s war on Ukraine threatens a global food security crisis, if not stopped immediately
Ukraine is the global fifth-largest exporter of wheat and one of the main exporters of other agrarian products in the world. But those parts of Ukraine with the highest agricultural production are now under aerial attack and artillery bombardment. Farmers can’t start the spring sowing campaign. If this war is not stopped immediately, the world will experience a drop of global supply between 10% to 50% of major agrarian products including wheat, barley, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower oil.
