Some 400,000 square meters of warehouses of the largest Ukrainian companies were destroyed near Kyiv by Russian troops

Some 400,000 square meters of warehouses, which is about 20% of all warehouse space in Kyiv and the region, were either damaged or destroyed near Ukraine’s capital due to the fighting.

At the beginning of March 2022, one of the largest logistics complexes in Ukraine, West Gate Logistic, burned down in Stoyanka, Kyiv region, as a result of Russian shelling. Dragon Capital, the owner of the 100,000 square meters complex, estimated the losses at € 45.8 million.

The figure doesn’t include the value of the tenants’ goods. For example, a liquor and food retailer Good Wine lost goods worth € 15 million, while a supplier of tires Bohnenkamp Ukraine estimated its losses at € 7 million. Also, Russians destroyed a large Komodor logistics park (area of 68,621 square meters) near Makarov in Kyiv region. As a result, € 46.7 million worth of medicines and raw materials for medicine production belonging to pharmaceutical company Farmak were burned.

Among the companies that have lost the goods due to the shelling of the warehouses near Kyiv are most of the large food retailers, home appliances store chains, distributors of personal care products, and other consumer goods.

The problem that companies are now facing is not only the loss of goods but also the lack of storage facilities not only in Kyiv region but throughout the country.
