Sweden and Finland to train Ukrainian soldiers in the UK

Sweden and Finland decided to send instructors to the UK to give Ukrainian citizens basic military training to enable them to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Between August 12 and December 31, 2022, the Swedish Armed Forces will send up to 120 instructors to the UK to conduct basic military training for Ukrainian citizens, divided into several training courses.
“Russia’s war against Ukraine has been going on for over five months, and it’s immensely important that the rest of the world continues to support Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty and self-determination. It’s important that Sweden is part of these efforts, and the Swedish instructors will contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities,” says Minister for Defense of Sweden Peter Hultqvist.
Finland will send approximately 20 service personnel to the United Kingdom to partake in a training program for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The training program is led by the UK, which has asked partner nations for support. According to the UK, the program aims to provide basic soldier training to as many as 10,000 Ukrainian volunteers. The program will take place this year.
