The Economist dedicated an article to a conductor from Kherson who refused to cooperate with Russian invaders

The British newspaper The Economist dedicated an obituary to the conductor from Kherson, Yurii Kerpatenko. In September 2022, Yurii was killed by the Russian invaders because he refused to cooperate with them.
The text describes the moments of the musician’s creative work.
Yurii Kerpatenko was the chief conductor of the Kherson Music and Drama Theater. After the full-scale war started and Kherson was under occupation, Yurii refused to leave the city and openly demonstrated his pro-Ukrainian civic position.
