The EU will support Ukraine in the reconstruction of the country and agreed to create a Solidarity Trust Fund

The European Council announced on March 24 its plans to set up the fund to support the Ukrainian government for its immediate needs and, once the Russian war is over, “for the reconstruction of a democratic Ukraine.”

The EU also said it would continue to provide coordinated political, financial, material, and humanitarian support to Ukraine and move quickly to further coordinated tough sanctions against Russia and Belarus to effectively prevent Russia from continuing its aggression. The European Council called on all countries to align with those sanctions, adding that “any attempts to circumvent sanctions or to aid Russia by other means must be stopped”.
