The first UAH 1 billion (about $34 million) has been allocated by the Ukrainian government for the reconstruction of liberated territories

“We are transferring the first billion hryvnias from the reserve fund for emergency spending to rebuild the territories liberated from Russian troops. The funds will be used to remedy the consequences of hostilities and restore infrastructure as a matter of priority,” announced Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

In particular, UAH 400 million (about $13 million) has been allocated to the Kyiv region and UAH 250 million (about $8 million) to both Chernihiv region and Sumy region. Another UAH 100 million (about $3 million) has been allocated to Zhytomyr region.

The funds will be used to repair utility networks and systems to restore heat, gas, water, and electricity. Also, they will help to clear rubble, repair roofs, replace windows and doors, fill in potholes and address other priority needs.
