The Guardian chose Ukrainian photojournalist Yevhen Maloletka its photographer of the year

The Guardian picture desk has chosen Ukrainian photojournalist Yevhen Maloletka as its agency photographer of the year.

Yevhen Maloletka, together with another Ukrainian photojournalist Mstyslav Chernov, were the only reporters to cover the Russian bombardment of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol for three weeks.

The photojournalists worked in extremely harsh conditions and were wanted by the Russian army due to the resonance of their photos.
