The number of human trafficking cases has increased due to the Russian war in Ukraine

The Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Helga Schmid, said in an interview with Die Welt that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the number of cases of human trafficking had increased dramatically, with pregnant women and refugees in particular at risk.
The Secretary General noted that the OSCE has launched a campaign “Be Safe,” aimed at warning potential refugees about the practices of human traffickers before they leave their country and providing an opportunity to contact the hotline.
