“The sirens interrupted our sleep” Ukrainian band Antytila released a collab with Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran released another version of his new song 2Step with the Ukrainian band Antytila, whose members joined the Territorial Defense Forces from the first days of the full-scale war.
The part of the song that Antytila sing is called “Sirens interrupted our sleep.” And it is about the first day of the war, love, and the promise to return from the war.
“The suggestion from Ed’s team to record a joint song is one more expression of support from the people of Great Britain and an unprecedented act that is guaranteed to create powerful momentum. Antytila did their job as soldiers. It was not easy for us to create and record Ukrainian lyrics and vocals in the studio,” said Taras Topolia, the frontman of the band. “In the Ukrainian text to Ed Sheeran’s song 2Step, I’ve decided to tell my own story of how the war started for my family. And it’s not just my story, it’s the story of millions of Ukrainians whose families were separated by horrific bombing and war and sometimes forever,” says Taras Topolia.
Ed Sheeran’s video ‘2step’, which was released a week ago, was shot in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv before the Russian invasion. The singer supports Ukraine and promised to transfer all royalties and proceeds from YouTube streams of the single to DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
