“The total opposite of civilization, of decency”

Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte arrived in Kyiv on July 11, 2022. Before meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he visited war-torn localities in Kyiv region to see the destruction caused by Russians with his own eyes.

“Of course, we have all seen the photos, but to stand here ourselves…,” said Rutte when visiting the destroyed town of Irpin. “The total opposite of civilization, of decency. That one country invades another country and causes this kind of massive chaos. So many people have died. It’s really terrible.”
