“The unspeakable price paid by innocent Ukrainian people” EU officials saw the consequences of Russian atrocities in Bucha
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, and Slovakia’s Prime Minister Eduard Heger, visited the Ukrainian town of Bucha outside Kyiv to see the consequences of crimes committed by the Russian military against civilians.
“It was important to start my visit in Bucha. Because in Bucha our humanity was shattered. My message to the Ukrainian people: Those responsible for the atrocities will be brought to justice. Your fight is our fight,” said Ursula von der Leyen on Twitter.
“We bear witness to harrowing images in Bucha today. Destruction, atrocities committed by Russia, and the unspeakable price paid by innocent Ukrainian people,” said Josep Borrell after visiting Bucha.
Ursula von der Leyen and Josep Borrell arrived in Kyiv on April 8, 2022, to show solidarity with Ukraine.
