The war has left almost a million Ukrainians without electricity, a quarter of a million – with no gas

According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, more than 960,000 consumers are left without electricity in Ukraine due to the damage caused by Russian invaders, as of March 12, 2022. The most difficult situation with electricity supply is in Donetsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions. Also, about 264,000 Ukrainians have no gas supply. The most complicated situation is in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. Both numbers increase every day, as hostilities and the emergence of new damage to the grid complicate emergency recovery works.
