Three Ukrainians included in TIME’s 100 most influential people in the world

Three Ukrainians are included in TIME’s 100 most influential people in the world. The U.S. magazine has chosen President Volodymyr Zelensky and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi for the “Leaders” category, and Ukrainian media ‘Ukrainska Pravda’ Chief Editor Sevgil Musaieva, in “Innovators” category.

U.S. President Joe Biden wrote an article in the American newspaper Time about Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as he topped the ranking of the most influential people in 2022.

“When Vladimir Putin started his brutal war against Ukraine, and Ukrainians needed their leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyyʼs words spread around the world: President is here. In the person of President Zelenskyy, the people of Ukraine have a leader worthy of their bravery and resilience, as citizens across the country — shopkeepers and soldiers, tailors and truck drivers — fight for their homes and their freedom,” he wrote.

“Amid this chaos, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi became the military mind that his country needed. His leadership has allowed the Ukrainian Armed Forces to adapt quickly and take the initiative on the battlefield against the Russians,” said General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in his article about Valerii Zaluzhnyy.

Time also writes that among those included in this year’s list is journalist Sevgil Musaieva “whose bold team of Ukrainska Pravda has become the leading independent news organization in Ukraine.”
