“Time is running out, and time is our lives!” Mariupol defenders call for evacuation
Serhii Volyna, Commander of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who continues to defend the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol alongside other Ukrainian soldiers, said that Mariupol defenders have ended up in a “hell-like reality TV show,” watched by the entire world. They are still hoping that decision regarding their evacuation will be approved.
“It is as if I am trapped in a hell-like reality TV show where we, the military, are fighting for our lives, trying to make use of every opportunity for salvation, while the rest of the world is looking on as this plot unfolds! These events are like something out of a movie or a TV series. The only difference is that this is not a movie, and we are not fictional characters! This is real life! Pain, suffering, hunger, agony, tears, fear, death — these are all real!” he said.
