Top commanders of Mariupol’s defense, freed from Russian captivity, met their families in Türkiye

Five top commanders of Mariupol’s defense — Denys Prokopenko, Serhii Volynskyy, Sviatoslav Palamar, Denys Shlega, and Oleh Khomenko — met their families in Istanbul, Türkiye. They were released from Russian captivity on September 21, 2022.

Ukrainian defenders were able to see and hug their loved ones for the first time in many months. Here are some photos of their meeting published by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
