Ukraine’s former basketball player and two-time NBA champion Stanislav Medvedenko sold his championship rings at an auction in support of Ukraine.

Medvedenko owned two NBA rings for victories in 2001 and 2002 as part of the Los Angeles Lakers. However, after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine started, the former basketball player decided to sell the rings. “Now, the victory of Ukraine and the fact that Ukrainian children associate their future with Ukraine is more important to me,” he said. A sportsman sold his rings for more than $250,000.

Medvedenko planned to use the collected funds for his foundation, which helps Ukrainian children with rehabilitation. Also, part of the money will go to the restoration and reconstruction of sports infrastructure in Ukrainian schools destroyed or damaged by the Russian invasion.
