U.S. Department of State released the annual Human Rights Report with highlights of the detrimental impact of Russia’s war on human rights in Ukraine

“U. S. Department of State Human Rights Report highlights the impact of Russia’s unlawful & unprovoked war on human rights in Ukraine. Standing with Ukraine means standing for human rights, and we will continue supporting the fight for shared democratic values,” U. S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget A. Brink.

“There were also significant human rights issues involving Ukrainian government officials, although not comparable to the scope of Russia’s abuses, which included credible reports of: unlawful or arbitrary killings; forced disappearances; torture and other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment; harsh or life-threatening prison conditions; arbitrary arrest or detention; serious problems with the independence of the judiciary; restrictions on freedom of expression, including for members of the media, violence or threats of violence against journalists, unjustified arrests or prosecutions of journalists, and censorship,” the report states.
