U.S. designates Russia’s Wagner Group as transnational criminal organization

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control labeled Russia’s Wagner Group a transnational criminal organization and accused it of atrocities in Ukraine and around the world.

The measures target eight individuals and 16 entities — many with ties to the Wagner Group.

“Sanctions on Wagner, as well as new sanctions on their associates and other companies enabling the Russian military complex, will further impede Putin’s ability to arm and equip his war machine,” reported the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
