U.S. Senate approves $800m in aid to Ukraine
The U.S. Senate passed legislation on Dec. 15, 2022, authorizing a record $858 billion in annual defense spending, it includes $800 million in support for Ukraine. — CNN reports.
According to the media, The NDAA extends and modifies the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative and authorizes $800 million in funding in the fiscal year 2023, which is $500 million more than was contained in last year’s defense bill.
The program provides funding for the federal government to pay industry to produce weapons and security assistance to send to Ukraine rather than drawing directly from current U.S. stockpiles of weapons, as CNN reports.
