U.S. supports Ukraine’s efforts to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity

At the press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to a question about the explosions in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

“We are supporting Ukraine’s efforts to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We will continue to ensure that Ukraine can push back against Russia’s unprovoked aggression, and that’s going to be our focus,” commented Jean-Pierre.

On August 9, 2022, powerful explosions rocked the area of a military airbase in Crimea, which is temporarily under Russian occupation.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry did not specify the cause of the explosions, sarcastically saying that it “once again reminds of the rules of fire safety and the prohibition of smoking in unspecified places.”
