UK government announces £2.5m package to assist Ukraine with war crimes investigations

The UK government has announced a new £2.5m support package to assist Ukraine with investigating war crimes. — Sky News reports.

The package will be used to help the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine investigate crimes, including conflict-related sexual violence.

Concerns continue internationally over whether Russia has committed war crimes in Ukraine.

The cash will be provided as part of the UK’s support to the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group in partnership with the EU & US.

Melinda Simmons, UK Ambassador to Ukraine, said: “The evidence of the horrific crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine, and the first-hand accounts I have heard from the survivors, will stay with me forever.”
