Ukraine destroyed twice as many Russian aircraft as the Soviet Union lost during the 10-year war in Afghanistan

During Russia’s full-scale aggression, Ukrainian forces destroyed double the number of Russian aircraft compared to the Soviet Union’s losses during ten years of war in Afghanistan, stated Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

According to him, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 278 Russian aircraft. To compare, the Soviet Union lost during the 10-year war in Afghanistan 118 Soviet aircraft.

“This war is the same shame for the Russian Federation and will cause its destruction!” the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted.
