Ukraine is forced to reduce the sown area of crops by 20.5% this spring due to Russian aggression

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, in 2022, during the spring sowing season, it is planned to reduce the sown area by 20.5% — from 16.92 million hectares to 13.44 million hectares. The cause is the military invasion of the Russian Federation and its occupation of part of the Ukrainian territory.
So far in the sowing season 2022, Ukraine had sowed main crops on 1.07 million hectares of land, which is 7.9% of the 13.44 million hectares planned for the current season, including 0.47 million hectares sown during the week from April 1, 2022, through April 8, 2022.
The start of sowing spring crops in all regions of Ukraine except the Luhansk region, where almost the entire territory is in the fight with Russian invaders, was reported on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on April 8, 2022.
