“Ukraine is part of Europe, always was, always will” Baltic foreign ministers visited Ukraine

On May 6, 2022, a delegation of the Foreign Ministers of the Baltic States visited Kyiv region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Eva-Maria Liimets visited Irpin, where the Russian invaders shelled residential areas of the city.

Eva-Maria Liimets said the visit shows “unwavering support to the people of Ukraine and discuss more ways we can help Ukraine who is fighting for its freedom and sovereignty, but also for the democratic values.”

They also met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, and Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna.

“At the meeting with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna reaffirmed Latvia’s strong support to granting EU candidate country status to Ukraine as soon as possible. #Ukraine is part of Europe, always was, always will,” Edgars Rinkēvič, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, said on Twitter.
