“Ukraine is paying the price for the West’s failure to understand the threat posed by Vladimir Putin”

The Prime Minister of the UK Boris Johnson told the BBC the Russian president’s invasion had “already failed” because he underestimated the “strength of resistance” in Ukraine.
He blamed European countries who “went back to treating Putin as part of the community” after he annexed Crimea in 2014.
Mr. Johnson said the West needed to ensure it was “never again vulnerable to Putin’s blackmail” — especially when it concerns Russian oil and gas.
