Ukraine lost 30% of its metallurgical capacity due to the war

“Mariupol plants are more than a third of Ukraine’s steel production. That is, today Ukraine has lost about 30-40% of its metallurgical capacities,” said Yuri Ryzhenkov, CEO of the mining and metals company Metinvest, which owns two Mariupol metallurgical plants — Azovstal and Ilyich Steel. Ryzhenkov is confident that the Mariupol plants will be rebuilt after Russian troops are expelled from Ukraine.
