Ukraine marks Independence Day in its fight for freedom

On August 24th, 2022, Ukrainians mark not only the 31th anniversary of restoring Ukraine’s independence, but exactly six months of brutal full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Today the word “independence” sounds completely different to Ukrainians. Because they are fighting for independence right now on the battlefield, they are defending their right to be free, their right to be themselves.

Exactly six months ago Russia unleashed a war on Ukraine hoping to capture full territory of the country in three days and hold a parade in Kyiv. Instead, Russia has been suffering heavy losses and only its destroyed equipment was able to “hold parade” in Ukraine’s capital. Ukrainians have already proved to the whole world that love for their country, resilience and faith in their own strength could beat such a huge aggressor. With joint efforts of the international community Russia can be and must be conquered.

This fight for Ukraine’s independence is not over yet. But it will definitely end with Ukraine’s victory.
Слава Україні! Героям слава!
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to heroes!
