Ukraine marks the National Day of Diplomatic Service

On Dec. 22, Ukraine marks the Day of Diplomatic Service. Ukrainian diplomats all over the globe have been working relentlessly to secure international support and broaden the coalition of Ukraine’s allies on a daily basis. Thanks to its collective diplomatic efforts, Ukraine has received the largest military support for a country since World War II, along with financial and technical assistance. Unprecedented sanctions have been imposed against Russia to increase Kremlin’s international isolation.

Among Ukraine’s diplomatic achievements in 2022 are:

  • Significant progress in Ukraine’s EU and NATO membership ambitions;
  • Increased recognition of Holodomor, the Great Famine of 1932-33, as the genocide of the Ukrainian people, now amounting to 23 states
  • The adoption of numerous resolutions in support of Ukraine and condemning Russia’s actions, including recognizing the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism, by the European Parliament
  • Global recognition and inclusion of Ukraine as a valuable partner and international actor on the global arena: no decisions about Ukraine are made without Ukraine

Over 300 days into the war, Ukrainian diplomats continue to demonstrate perseverance, resilience, and a creative and innovative approach to establishing and nurturing more and more international partnerships. Thank you for your service!
