Ukraine needs $17 billion in additional financing for energy repairs

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the country would need an additional $17 billion in financing for energy repairs, de-mining, and rebuilding infrastructure this year.

He informed that five high-voltage substations in the central, southern, and southwestern regions were hit during Russia’s air attacks on Jan. 26, 2023.

After four months of Russian missiles and drone attacks, the energy sector has been severely damaged. Shmyhal said the government hosted a meeting with Western partners this week to coordinate financial support transparently and efficiently, Reuters reports.
