Ukraine retrieves bodies of 82 fallen defenders
The bodies of 82 fallen Ukrainian defenders were returned from the possession of Russian forces, Ukraine’s Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories reports.
According to the ministry, the bodies were recovered “in accordance with the norms of the Geneva Convention” — a legal protocol that sets out the standards for humanitarian treatment in war. In total, the bodies of more than 1,500 Ukrainian soldiers have been returned to their relatives since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, 2022.
