Ukraine shoots down Russian Kinzhal ballistic missile for the first time

On May 4, 2023, Ukraine’s Air Force shot down a Russian Kh-47 Kinzhal ballistic missile for the first time since the start of the full-scale war, Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk announced. Ukrainian Air Force used the Patriot air defense system to destroy the ballistic missile over the Kyiv region. Previously, Russia claimed that none of the West’s most advanced air-defense systems could shoot down these missiles.
